Sugar Hollow Passes and Tours As musical students, every vocalist or musician dreams of being on the road, touring at big venues and making a name for themselves. This is all possible on SH! Sugar Hollow Academy allows special students (those who maintain good grades) to purchase passes in the stores and tour for a weekend, for two weekends, or for three weekends and while they have to pay for these passes, they still receive a great deal of monies and prizes at the end of the weekend! Here's the gist of it all!Passes:
So for passes, you have to meet the criteria to tour and you can only tour when school is out. (winter and summer seasons). If you successfully finish your credit hours for the semester and pass your final, then you could be awarded a touring pass, no charge whatsoever! That's free monies, free FP, free store gifts! Pretty great, right?There will be some 'activities' that professors will assign where students are randomly drawn and have to form a band for however many venues they tour at. Passes will be handed out and if the venues are threaded out properly, you receive extra credit as well as prizes for participating!You're now probably asking yourself, well what if we already formed a band with our characters and want to tour. You can! You each buy a pass from the store to be able to tour! and this is something you have to do every time you want to tour. We do not pick the prizes, the amount of revenue, or fame points that you get from each touring season. That is randomly generated like a good portion of the results from activities, competitions, and events.Tours:Tours can last as long as one weekend to three weekends. But there is a pass you can purchase that will allow you to tour for a full season! When you tour, you are given an amount of posts that have to be made during the weekend, which is randomly generated using the site Random.org. It's only fair, because your characters are earning monies. To earn monies they need to work. The touring is considered a job! |

PERSONALITY People describe me as quiet, shy, sweet and even talented on occasion but I would describe myself as modest, quiet, shy and even on the timid side when i'm around people I'm not sure of or just don't know. However, once I get to know someone, I'm usually pretty outgoing and can hold a good conversation, party hard, and get into trouble with my long time best friends, Laney Beretti and Arsen.
I take school very seriously and I'm motivated and determined to graduate with honors or a perfect GPA. Although, i'm sure that I won't be able to achieve that goal totally, but that doesn't mean I won't try my darnedest. That's another thing. I hardly ever swear, having been raised in a small southern town to respect my elders, be a southern lady, etc etc. Now, I am a southern lady, there's nothing wrong with that. But where I'm from, if a Southern Lady isn't respected, then that Lady has a right to defend herself even if it's not in a ladylike fashion.
HISTORY I was born in a small town in Texas. At a young age, I witnessed my mother slowly wither away from cancer while my dad stood to the side, helpless despite how big and burly and mountainous he was to me. She had been suffering from cancer for years and despite her doctor's orders and wishes, she had been pregnant with me and refused chemo or treatment until I was full term. After she had me, she started going downhill until eventually wasting away and dying when I was just ten years old.
The next ten years, my dad raised me the best he could. He ended up buying a bar and we lived above it in an apartment so we could watch over the bar during the week and I could be just upstairs while he worked the bar downstairs. Growing up in that atmosphere, I learned right away that men were supposed to respect me and if they didn't, my daddy would be sure to teach them some manners. Of course, as I got older, I ended up teaching them those manners myself.
I started singing sometime after my fifteenth birthday and that's when I realized I loved to do it. I started singing on karaoke nights downstairs in the bar and as I managed to build a small fan base, my dad started having me sing every week for my so-called fans. I finished high school with flying colors and got a job working with my dad. But it wasn't until twp years after graduation that my dad finally told me that it was time for me to go to school and showed me a brochure of what school he thought would be best. It didn't take much convincing.

Sugar Hollow Plot and Story Can I join with a ghost?
No you may not. A ghost is an upgrade in the store that, after posting and raising the money, you can purchase to create your character as.
How many characters can we have?
You have five free characters, but after you fill up those spots, you'll have to purchase extra from the store!
Can my character be a student?
YES! absolutely, however like most colleges, there are times and dates when a character can apply for the academy! Your character can earn scholarships to pay for school, or you can post with them in order for them to take classes! (this is void on opening day)
How do I earn scholarships?
Post, Post, Post. Threads make a difference, especially when they're music related or when they're doing something around the town. If your character knows the Dean, or a professor then you can definitely have a helping hand in applying for SHA!
Can my character go on tour?
YES THEY CAN! In fact, your character, especially a student, can go on tour with one of the hot shot professors or bands that pass through Sugar Hollow and call Sugar Hollow their home. It's a purchased pass in the store! And guess what, you can earn money from these tours! If you have other people in your band, then the money is split up, divided and distributed among the members!
what are finals?
finals are basically your activity check and only required for students! If you have a few characters and only one is a student then you are only asked to post with that one character doing something that has to do with your character's major and minor. Then a Professor will 'grade' the student. The higher the grade, the more fame points and money you'll receive!
Well how do I get a high grade?
Post, post, post! Especially when it comes to your classes, you have to AT LEAST post twice a month for your major and minor and your classes. Even if they're one shots, they count! If you have four classes for your character, that's 8 one shots, that's it. That's how you get an A!
What if I can't post that often?
It's OKAY! We're not going to beat you if you don't post. Make sure you post in the 'away' if you need to take a break or anything like that!
How often does time move?
Eight months of our months equal one in game year! Think of it this way, two of our months is one in game season and one in game semester. So registration for the Academy opens up every two months! Your student will progress every two months! Pretty nifty, eh?

Sugar Hollow Stats & Money What are the stats?Stats are what help you build your character's fame in the town of Sugar Hollow. And because we thought it would be unfair to leave that to the SHA students, now all of Sugar Hollow, Townies and SHA members alike, can build their fame in Sugar Hollow!How do I earn stats?There are several ways to earn Fame and that's by completing tasks for your characters! Say your character goes on tour, completes the tour and depending on how well they do (which is randomly generated) they will receive cash and Fame points!Why are the stats all different?Well the townies are townies because they aren't students or professors, so they won't have the same stats or fame as a student or professor would. But, they can still be famous for something or another! May it be a bar, or as a painter, or designer, or something like that. The higher the fame, the bigger the change your character's name will be on everyone's lips!
What are all of the different stats?
Well you have ones like Vocal, Instrumental, Presence and Intelligence for the students. If you have more of Vocal than instrumental, your character belongs in the singing career. If your character has more intelligence than instrumental, they belong in a studio or managing bands! For Ghosts, there's Prestige, Ominous, Propitious, and Ability. More Ominous makes the spirit evil, more Propitious makes the spirit good. Prestige is popularity or well known and abilities is like passing through walls, etc! For Townies they have Prestige, Skill, Luck and Valiant. Valiant characters belong in the law enforcement, or firefighting, etc. Skill can be anything artistic apart from music, can be culinary, anything really.
Money
What is the money for?why, to buy goodies from the store of course! You can get just about anything from the store to help your character progress in their story and such!
How do I earn money?Well, you could earn money by posting, mainly. Your character could earn money by completing tasks that your administrators ask of them, then a random amount is awarded to your account!

when applying for a job, please take into account what your character exceeds at. If it's music, maybe a music instructor. If it's singing, then a vocal instructor. If it's presence or intelligence, then maybe they should work in the studio but please do not place someone who belongs in the studio in an instrumental classroom! SHA Staff: Sugar Hollow academy staff, this would include the faculty team such as the Dean, the advisors, the professors and even the lunch 'ladies' and janitors. If your character works for the Academy they'd fall into this group.
SHA Students: These, are of course the Sugar Hollow Academy Students. If your character is musically inclined and want's a career in music wether it be performance or running a studio, they need an education so they can get that career, so they'd fall under this category.
Townies: This would be the people who don't work for the academy or the people that aren't students. These would be business owners or people working in the world of retail or that desk job somewhere, or maybe they just like to roam and travel. either way, if your character doesn't work for the school or isn't a student, they'd fall in this category.
Ghosts: Ghosts can haunt just about anything, a bus or a guitar, even the school or maybe someone in particular. If your character is well, dead but still has some unfinished business they'd fall under this group. *Ghosts are available for purchase in the store.*

Sugar Hollow Rules
One. Please be respectful towards others. This includes: Do not, I repeat, do not take your frustrations out on another player through your character. This is a form of bullying and we on SH will not put up with this, no sirree.
Two. SH does not support separate character accounts. Upon registering please keep your username sweet and simple and all characters to one central account. We do not want to see any BoBBieJOEs24942's.
three. When you join you are promising to take part in all required polls, nominations, activity checks, or anything that has been deemed required to partake in.
four. Respect is highly valued here toward both member and staff member. Multiple accounts of disrespect toward anyone will result in either a temporary or permanent account ban.
five. We don't want to see a obscene use of profanity. There's a point where it gets tacky and unneeded. 5. No spamming, advertising other sites, or arguing in the cbox.
six. Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated.
seven. Don't pester others. Begging does not help anything.
ICC
One You are allowed five free characters to start off with, but any characters created after that must be bought via the store. It's a character slot. Want more? Buy it.
Two At the end of each academy 'semester' there are finals. These are activity checks. You only have to post with your student characters! Only the students. Then, your student will be graded and awarded appropriately for their activity as well as performance in the academy. If they maintain their grade throughout the duration of their academy life, then they are more likely to find better managers, get more offers, and have a better chance at touring!
three Any marriages, divorces, babies etc have to be bought via the store! One sure fine way to get monies is by posting. You must first ask permission for your character to join with a spouse already, however they can be brought over as engaged! And characters may have children upon creation!
four No God-modding or powerplaying. If you have to question whether or not you should do it, don't do it. If you do not have permission to do it, don't do it. Please keep in mind when you create characters, try not to have all students, or townies, or all ghosts. Keep a variety!
five Always keep the gender and role ratio in mind when creating a character. This goes for your own character group as well. If we notice a greater difference in gender count, bans will be placed until the lesser number catches up.
six There is no word count minimum. However please do your best to keep a good word count ratio when threading with others. Quality over quantity works in more cases than you may think.
Grades, Gifts, and Credit Hours
One: Okay, so your student character has decided to go to SHA and pursue a career in the music industry, right? What now? First off, they need to apply. You can join a student character, and for their first semester it's a free shoo-in for enrollment. However, in order to keep going to SHA, that student needs good grades to stay in school and they need to pay for enrollment.
Two: You're probably asking, well how do I make good grades? The same way you would in a real, you complete the courses you chose for that semester and do your final! We grade in a hundred point system, which will be explained in another thread.
Three Schedules. Each semester a schedule is posted to tell what classes are done where, and at what time just to give you an idea of where your character would be, say at two when she has a vocal study at that time in the classrooms. Granted, if you want to thread your character elsewhere, feel free too! We allow liquid time here! your character is allowed to be in several places at once, of course.
Four: So for full time students, they must complete 12 credit hours a semester, at least. You're more than welcome to take on more than this and if you do, your character gets to graduate early! For part time students, the minimum is eight credit hours. A SH credit hour = 1 post regarding that class. Say you want to take four credit hours in vocal, or that it's required, and four in studio management. You must have four posts in each category to move on to the next rank (freshman to sophomore, sophomore to junior, etc etc.)
Five: At the end of the semester, you're character will take a final, this final will determine their grade for the semester and whether or not they get a free ride to the next semester. Your character can graduate in four seasons, or four semesters.
six: How long is a semester? Well we work with 8 of our months is a year in SH. So divide that by four and you have two of our months is a season. That's two months to complete your credit hours for the semester! Just like our university, however, SH grants breaks for Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holidays! So you won't be posting ALL the time with your student character in just a classroom setting!

Sugar Hollow Plot and Story Nestled in the mountains on the stateline between Tennessee and Kentucky, Sugar Hollow can be described as quaint, quiet and homey. It's the type of town you tell your friends to visit when they just need a day off, or even a week off, and they tellt heir friends the same thing, and so on. It's the town you can walk down the sidewalk and not have to worry about shootings or yelling, but more so people hanging out their window to say hello. This town, people stop in the middle of the road just to ask how you're Grandmother Abby has been and whether your papa Jack needs a helping hand out on the farm. There's music in the air, everywhere you turn.
But what most people won't tell you is the dark past that's hidden beneath the concrete the town was built on. They won't tell you that the residents are haunted by the man that had been hung for killing his wife over a hundred years ago. They won't tell you that because of it, once every month, they lock their doors, sprinkle salt on their window sill and hope, pray that the ghosts that built this musical town don't enter.
Sugar Hollow was built by a man who believed music could cure even the darkest of souls. Abel Hollow hoped to reach others and bring them into the music world by building an academy just for that. Sugar Hollow Academy is situated on the tallest hill overlooking the small town, it's gothic towers reaching formidably to the sky, looming over the citizens. Abel Hollow's wife, Reba Hollow, found joy in teaching some of the classes alongside her husband. They brought in several teachers from France, England and more in hopes of broadening their students' minds and offering them the best education.
Everything was great.
And then Reba turned up dead after rumors got around to her husband that she had been sleeping around on him with one of the other professors. They found Abel leaning over her body, soaked in her blood with rage in his eyes. The townspeople tied and gagged him then strung him up to the tree hanging tree and without a fair trial, they hung him.
Before this, he told the townspeople he would be back, that even the Devil himself couldn't keep him from coming back and seeking revenge on the entire town. He cursed the town, and everyone in it. |
